Timing tool for timing chain, for Opel 1.3, 1.4L L3T, F14SHT, F14SHL engines

Special tool kit for timing adjustment on 1.3L and 1.4L L3T (F14SHT, F14SHL) engines from Opel.
Contains all the tools required for removal, installation and adjustment of camshafts, timing chain, balance shaft, camshaft adjuster, cylinder head, timing cover and high-pressure fuel pump.
According to the repair manual, a torque multiplier is required to loosen the crankshaft pulley. When referring to torque specifications, please note the 1:5 transmission ratio.
The camshaft adjuster control valves must be preloaded with 6 Nm in a counterclockwise direction – we recommend using our friction coefficient meter/drag torque indicator (item no. 118535).

NOTES:
The timing chain is removed upwards with the camshaft adjusters.
Camshaft adjuster control valves are NOT interchangeable.

Timing adjustment:
Crankshaft:
The spring-loaded fixing bolt for the flywheel fixes the crankshaft in the adjustment position at 118.14 degrees behind TDC. The crankshaft must NOT be able to turn with the tool inserted. We recommend removing the TDC locking pin from the flywheel fixing tool when loosening and tightening the crankshaft from the flywheel. The locking tooth should absorb the required torques alone.

Camshaft:
The camshaft markings ‘E’ (exhaust side) and ‘I’ (intake side) must be in the adjustment position relative to each other, at approximately 1 o\'clock and 11 o\'clock.
The single notch (per camshaft) behind the first camshaft bearing block must be at 12 o\'clock. The camshaft fixing tool, item no. 122927 (as per Opel EN-52484), fits directly into these notches. (If necessary, turn the NW with an open-end spanner).
Before tightening the camshaft control valves, the adapters must be preloaded counterclockwise with 6 Nm and fixed to the tool using the clamping screws.

Balance shaft:
The basic position of the balance shaft, or its flattened section, is approximately at 8 o\'clock.

High-pressure pump:
The high-pressure fuel pump must be removed in order to dismantle the valve cover. Before refitting, the correct stroke must be checked using tool no. 122923. Insert the alignment tool into the bore with the ‘2’ mark facing upwards and, if necessary, turn it on the crankshaft until the cam nose is in the base circle position.
In the base circle position, the alignment tool is aligned with the cylinder head.

Crankshaft oil seal:
The shaft seal is located in the front end cover and is supplied with a mounting sleeve. The required guide pins for the engine front cover crankshaft and oil pan, item no. 122929 (as per EN-52483), are included in the scope of delivery. This procedure is identical for the gearbox-side shaft seal.

Tightening torques required, if applicable:
(Reference: Opel Astra K 1.4 T, built in 2021, F14SHT engine)

Central screw crankshaft pulley/damper: 150 Nm + 140 degrees
Camshaft gears: 30 Nm + 45 degrees
Preload camshaft adapter: 6 Nm (left-hand tightening)
Tensioning and guide rails, chain tensioner: 15 Nm
Balance shaft gears: 36 Nm
NW control valve plugs: 58 Nm
Camshaft bearing caps: 5 Nm, then 10 Nm
Valve covers: 4 Nm, then 9 Nm

Suitable for the following engine codes:
L3T, F14SHT, F14SHL

To be used as:
EN-52438, EN52438-300, EN-52438-400, EN-52443, EN-52461, 52461-300, EN-52476, EN-582483, EN-52484, EN-52487, EN-955-10-A
