Timing tool for Ford / Mazda / Volvo with 1.6 / 2.0 T4 / T5 engine


Special tool set for adjusting the timing on the B4204 engine series of the T4/T5 generation. These engines are driven by a timing chain and, due to the lack of markings, absolutely require these setting tools.

The valve cover must be removed for the camshaft template. The camshaft adjusters do not need to be removed to replace just the timing chain. Note the friction discs on the crankshaft sprocket – there is a friction disc before and after each sprocket. These must also be replaced according to the manufacturer. When installing, the vibration damper must be aligned absolutely using the special counter-holding tool, as a ring gear for the TDC sensor is installed here.

Volvo: S60, S80, V40, V60, V70, XC60

Suitable for the following engine codes:
1.6/2.0 T4/T5 engines with B4204T6, B4204T7, MPS6

and the following Ford engine codes from model year 05/2011:
MGDA, N3DA, R9CB, R9CD, R9CF, R9CH, R9CI, R9DA, R9DB, R9DC, R9DD, R9MA, TNBA, TNBB, TNCC, TNCD, TNCF, TNWA, TNWB, TPBA, TPWA, XQDA, YVDA


Possibly required tightening torques:
(for B4204T6 and B4204T7 engines)
Camshaft sprockets: 72 Nm
Crankshaft pulley: 100 Nm + 90°
Timing chain tensioner: 10 Nm
Timing chain guide rail: 10 Nm
Timing case cover (sealant incorporated): M6 10 Nm, M10 50 Nm
Oil pump sprocket: 25 Nm
Oil pump chain tensioner: 10 Nm
Water pump pulley: 24 Nm
Drive belt tensioner: 24 Nm
Camshaft and crankshaft sensor: 6 Nm
Valve cover: 10 Nm
