Timing Chain Riveting Tool for Mercedes

Special tool for cutting and riveting the timing chain on Mercedes-Benz engines of the M133, M152, M157, M260, M264, M270, M274, M276, M278 series with INA timing chain.

Due to the design and installation position of the timing chain, a special tool (such as Mercedes W276589003900) is required. The special tool consists of several components, which we list separately in the scope of delivery.
Please note that this special tool is only used for the INA timing chain variant. For IWIS timing chains, use our STAHLMAXX universal riveting tool, part no. 7400. 112444.

Procedure for replacing the timing chain (loosening, pulling, riveting):
(Reference: Mercedes-Benz C-Class C180 (205.476) M 264.915)

Preparatory work:
- We recommend starting the repair at TDC
- Remove the camshaft housing
- Remove the chain tensioner
- Remove the camshafts with the adjustment mechanism

Separating the timing chain:
- Position the riveting tool so that the outer links of the timing chain lie on the side of the tension rail after separation (watch out for loose parts!!)

Installing the timing chain:
- Connect the new and old chain
- Turn the crankshaft at the central screw and feed the chain through with a second mechanic
- Turn the engine to TDC

Timing chain riveting:
- press in the new chain lock, press in the new chain lock, then rivet in the rivets and check the rivets

Install camshafts, set timing timing, install cylinder head cover

Any required tightening torques:
Camshaft housing: 10 Nm + 90 degrees
Chain tensioner screw on holder: 40 Nm
Camshaft adjuster control valve: 18 Nm + 45 degrees
Camshaft clamp screw: 28 Nm
Chain tensioner screw holder on crankcase: 20 Nm

Suitable for the following engine codes:
(with INA timing chain, on some engines, depending on the production period, an IWIS timing chain may be fitted, checking with vehicle identification number is necessary)
Mercedes Benz M133, M152, M157, M260, M264, M270, M274, M276, M278
